    💡 Advice
At the end of March/beginning of April, sow basil seeds, place seedlings in a light, heated room and water regularly. Young shoots will appear a week later. You'll need to harden off the plants before putting them in the garden. Harvest the leaves as and when you need them, starting with the lower leaves to encourage the plant to branch out.
In July, prevent the plant from flowering: pinch off the ends of the stems as the flowers form. Basil can be stored either frozen or dried. July-August is the best time to harvest leaves for freezing. You can grow basil in the house over the winter.
